About the Client
The client is a product company building a platform that integrates multiple external tools and systems into one cohesive ecosystem. The platform handles data exchange, synchronization, and communication between services — which means reliability, scalability, and clean architecture matter.
The environment is not greenfield. It combines modern services with an existing PHP monolith that is still a core part of the system. The team is actively improving and evolving it rather than rewriting everything from scratch.
About the Project
This role is focused on backend development around integrations and data flow between systems.
You’ll be working on:
- designing and building backend services responsible for integrations
- handling communication between systems using APIs, webhooks, and queues
- shaping and improving event-driven architecture
- maintaining and extending both modern services and parts of the PHP monolith
- making technical decisions with real impact on the product
There is a strong emphasis on understanding trade-offs — not every problem needs a perfect solution, but it needs a pragmatic one that works at scale.
You’ll also be involved in:
- improving development processes and delivery quality
- contributing to code reviews and mentoring
- working closely with other engineers to align on architecture and standards
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building backend systemsstrong hands-on experience with Node.js and PHP
- experience working on system integrations (APIs, webhooks, polling, queues, event-driven systems)
- solid understanding of relational databases and data modeling
- experience with cloud environmentsability to make well-reasoned technical decisions (research, prototyping, documentation)comfortable working in complex, evolving systemsquality-oriented mindset (testing, observability, reliability)
- strong communication skills and ability to work closely with a team
